Q School starts on May 14th at the Meadowside in Burton on Trent. The entry deadline is 12pm on Wednesday March 28th.
It’s the route for amateur players hoping to gain a place on the World Snooker Tour, as there will be 12 two-year pro circuit cards up for grabs. These will be given to the four semi-finalists in each of three knock-out tournaments.
There has never been a better time to be a professional snooker player. The global circuit has grown to nearly 30 events worldwide, and total prize money of £14 million.
Winning a place on the tour really can change your life. So if you believe you have the talent and the dedication, take your chance at Q School.
The entry fee for Q School is £1,000. All players must be members of and in good standing with their National Governing Body.
Players can earn places in World Snooker Tour ranking events even if they don’t earn a tour card, if they finish high enough up the separate Q School ranking list and there are ‘top-up’ places available in tournaments.
The top 64 players from the 2018 Q School Ranking List (not qualified for the Main Tour) will be eligible for entry into the new Challenge Tour events being played during the 2018/2019 season.
World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn: “Sport is about opportunity for all, regardless of nationality or gender. Q School gives as many people as possible the chance to chase their dreams and become a professional snooker player. If you have the ability and the belief, then your chances are good. The best will rise to the top.
“Our tour is growing year by year. And there is much more to come as we grow our sport across the planet. It’s such an exciting time for snooker – if you want to be a part of it, this is your chance.”
